Epoxy resins are combinations which are got as a result of epychlorhydryn polycondensation reaction with polyatomic phenols in alkaline condition. From phenols most often used diphenylpropane (dian).
Depending on raw products proportion, epoxy resins have different molecular weight and that is why they happen to be in solid or liquid state.

They are able to become solid due to epoxy groups existence. Epoxy resins go to solid, infusible and insoluble state as a result of solidification.

Epoxy resins solidification is implemented with different chemical combinations. Chemical content of hardeners defines mechanical durability, stability of dielectric properties, solidification speed, etc. Using acid hardeners With application of acid-based hardeners (maleic and phthalic anhydrite and so on) solidification becomes a slow process and needs to be heated. Solidification with the main hardeners (polyethylene polyamine, hexamethylene diamine, pyridine, methaphenile diamine) is faster and no need in heating. Their high adhesion (adhesive capacity) is formed due to hydroxyl groups in epoxy resins.

Solidified epoxy resins are characterized with high durability, chemical resistance, good dialectic properties, small shrinkage.

Inputting to resins of plasticizers and modifiers (polyester, aliphatic polyester resins, dibutyl phthalate) makes elasticity higher, improves property durability and cold resistance, but heat resistance becomes lower. Khimlex Ltd. suggests plasticizer – diphutyl phthalate for realization.

The fillers – sand, asbestos, graphite, quartz, metallic powders and others, make heat resistance higher, make shrinkage and coefficient of linear expansion lower.
